Apple slowing down your old iPhone?!?

Have you ever noticed that your old iPhone just seems to be getting slower and slower? Many people chalk this up to their phones getting older and simply not able to keep up any more, Others shout that it's the phone manufacture deliberately making them slower to force them to upgrade and buy a new phone, So what is going on and how can you get your phone running back up to full speed again.

OK, So the truth is Apple do purposely slow your phone down as your battery starts to age, but before you run off and send your most I told you so Twitter post yet here's why, Batteries are consumable components much like tyres on your car they don't last forever and as they start to age they are no longer able to deliver the same amount of power as they once did so Apple‘s software will slow your phone down to keep you running smoothly, if they didn’t do this you will find your battery life would be even worse, your phone may randomly shut down or worse yet your phone may start to get extremely hot and potentially will end up in what’s called thermal runaway, this is where the lithium-ion battery will expand and start to give off toxic fumes not good! and if this happens you will most certainly miss out on your daily dose of cat memes.

So what can I do? How do I know if this is happing to me? how can I prevent this happing to me?

Ok, slow down let's take this one step at a time.

What can you do?

As we mentioned before, Batteries are consumable components like car tyres, So like car tyres its completely possible to get the battery in your iPhone replaced for a brand new one that will get your iPhone back to full performance.

How do I know if this is happening to me?

Easy! Your iPhone will tell you! There is a battery section on your iPhone that will give you your exact battery health once this drops below 80% or if your battery health says service then we would definitely recommend you getting a new battery asap!

How can I prevent this from happening to me?

Short answer, you can't prevent it happening, but there are things you can do to prolong the life of your battery to ensure you get an as long life out of it as possible, Things, like not leaving your phone on charge for extended periods of time And letting your battery drain all the way to 0 and charging it back up to 100% before using it again or taking it off charge, will certainly help prolong your battery for as long as possible

if however, you have checked your battery health and your battery is indeed due a replacement contact us today so we can get you booked in and back up and running at 100% again (pun intended)
